I like this, a lot. There's so much under the obvious levels to ponder. And it's a _very_ clever way to hold up a mirror to the reader. Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for this, and I'm glad it landed. I had to sit with your comment for a moment because the mirror thing wasn't intentional. Which probably makes the vulnerability part more necessary for my future writing sessions.
True, there are. More than the IRD's pre-deployment materials suggested. The materials have since been updated. (Largely by me.) Still, there are ways to cope with them creatively.
I really enjoyed that. A lot of that resonated and plenty to think on after reading it.
Thank you, glad it landed. When it does, I'm still surprised. Occupational hazard of being the alien observer, probably.

Intentional or not, I think it worked, and I enjoyed reading it.
It's good to see that you're finding a way to cope with people who don't know how to cope.
Sadly I think there a lot of people like that.

I did like the cup idea!
A researcher is only as good as her tools. Mine happen to be more often ceramic and occasionally fizzy.
This is delightfully inventive!
Thank you, Gregory. The IRD would describe it as a standard field report. I prefer your version.
Humans will disappoint you sometimes. But sometimes they'll surprise you.
And sometimes they do both simultaneously.
Filed under: confirmed. With extensive documentation.
The notes are the easy part. The execution requires a full cup and very good timing. You have both, I've seen the evidence.
Good. That's exactly the right amount.
